What are the defects?

On affected vehicles and only when an emergency braking function is initiated via the Electro-mechanical Parking Brake (EPB) button, the brake lights at the rear of the vehicle fail to illuminate. The basic operability of the brakes and brake lights are not affected by this issue when braking via the regular service brake foot pedal.

What are the hazards?

If an emergency braking operation is initiated via the electro-mechanical parking brake (EPB) button, the rear brake lights will not illuminate, which may cause a hazard for other road users.

What should consumers do?

Audi Australia Pty Ltd is contacting all known owners of affected vehicles. Consumers should contact their nearest Audi dealer to arrange for an inspection and repair. The Audi dealer will update the software to restore this function.
