What are the defects?
In the event of an impact which deploys the front seat belt retractor pre-tensioner, there is a possibility that the insulation material on the inner face of the lower ‘B’ pillar trim could be subjected to a concentrated heat source that could ignite the insulation material.
What are the hazards?
This could result in a fire. There have been no occurrences in Australia.
What should consumers do?
Ford will write to owners of all affected vehicles. Until the Safety Recall Service is completed it is recommended the vehicle be driven with caution and at moderate speed.
Owners are advised to contact their Ford authorised dealership for inspection and rectification.
