What are the defects?
The vehicle’s fuel tank may exceed the specified manufacturing dimensions and place additional strain on the fuel tank retaining strap, which may weaken or potentially break.
What are the hazards?
If the fuel tank retaining strap weakens or breaks, the fuel tank may move out of position, potentially causing fuel to leak from the vehicle. A fuel leak could result in a fire or serious injury to the driver and other road users.
What should consumers do?
Mazda Australia will contact all affected owners. Owners will be advised to present their vehicle to their preferred Mazda dealer for inspection of the fuel tank and a replacement where required.
